About Me!

Picture of me

Hi, I'm Kristin. I'm a student at Dominican University in River Forest, IL. I'm going for a Masters in Library and Information Science with a focus in Archives and Digital Libraries. I plan to graduate in December 2012.

My 3rd semester at Dominican I took a fantastic class called Internet Fundamentals and Design in which I learned a lot about web design hence, this web page. It's nothing fancy, I know, but I wanted to begin this site to document my learning in the archives field and show off some of the things I've accomplished.

Volunteer experience

Swedish American Museum, Chicago, IL

I've been volunteering in the collections department at SAM since May 2011. It was my first experience volunteering with a museum. I absolutely love it! Ideally, I'd like to end up working in a museum archive setting, but we'll see.

Lake County History Archives, Wauconda, IL

This was my first practical experience in an archive. Here, I worked on digitizing and describing a collection of school histories written in 1918 by Lake County school children. The collection can be found on Illinois Digital Archives.

Much loved blogs and sites

I am a blog addict! Some of these are library/archive related, some not
